Vale & West provides careers advice

Independent accountancy firm Vale & West was among leading Thames Valley-based businesses at the recent careers evening of St Joseph’s College – although Vale & West has closer links to the school than most.

Not only does Vale & West share its 1894 foundation date with the Reading-based independent school, but a former associate of the firm helped save St Joseph’s Convent from closure in 1977, by re-establishing it as today’s thriving St Joseph’s College.

Apart from providing personal advice on the evening from their own accountancy career experiences, Vale & West seniors Lauren Ball and Chisom Umeh (pictured, left to right) had a lot of local business knowledge to share with St Joseph’s students – after all Vale & West has also been Reading-based for 125 years.

Today, Vale & West is a vibrant partnership, spanning three centuries, two world wars, and one long proud heritage of proven professional service for its clients.

“Our long-term success is underpinned by our talented staff, strong associations within the local professional services community, plus our focus on high-quality accountancy performance and customer service satisfaction,” explained managing partner Jason Pyke.

“We will retain our core values of close, knowledgeable and committed client support – key to our continuing success – but as our attendance at tonight’s careers evening highlights, we are looking to grow the practice,” he added.

Christine Long of St Joseph’s College said: “The feedback we have received from pupils, parents and other advisors has been extremely encouraging.”
